*What is the MULA registration fee used for?

The registration fee is used for the youth program, specifically: league town fees, referee fees, field maintenance, equipment (goals, backstops, pinneys, goalie equipment, balls, game cages and nets, backstop nets, storage shed, uniforms, referee fees, Jamboree fees, field maintenance, apparel, postage, trophies, coaches and team parent gifts, etc.). Our registration fee is actually within midrange of other towns, some being as high as $190.

*What is the fundraising fee used for?

The MULA fundraising fee has been used for the development of the high school program, Nipmuc HS JV and Varsity teams, for both girls and boys 2005-present.
Historically, the youth program in most towns has funded the development of the high school program, due to the fact that most high schools do not have enough in their budget to develop a program on their own. Specifically the fundraising money has been used for the salaries of two Varsity and two JV coaches and 2 assistant coaches, transportation fees, referee fees, field maintenance, equipment, and uniforms for 88 players.

 

This year, MULA is continuing to support the High School lacrosse program. In addition, MULA may be required to contribute monies toward field maintenance in an effort to secure field space for our sport.  Our goal is to become an active contributor to field maintenance in the towns of Mendon and Upton, as other organizations are currently doing, in order to maintain a competitive edge with spring sports.

 

Many towns require fundraising participation due to failure at voluntary participation. Fortunately the majority of MULA families have said that they like the calendar raffle because they can sell all of their tickets and get back the $75 and they have the opportunity to win up to $100 in cash prizes

 

*How is the boys U9 program different?

U9 PROGRAM
The boys U9 team is strictly an instructional program. It is not yet part of the Massachusetts Bay Youth Lacrosse League (MBYLL) at this point. Individual towns arrange for instruction and games. You are charged the same fee as the other youth levels because your child receives instruction and game experience, the use of equipment and field space as mentioned above. You are charged a one-time uniform fee. As with most sports, players purchase their own equipment. Because lacrosse is a contact sport, it requires more equipment such as with hockey, and the equipment is more customized, unlike generic equipment such as football helmets and pads. 

 

*How much does it cost for US Lacrosse membership, and how do I go about registering my child with US Lacrosse?

US Lacrosse memberships are annual, depending on the date the players
signs up. For instance, if a player signed up for US Lacrosse in March
2008, his/her membership would expire at the end of March 2009. If the
player renews within that time, the membership would be pushed back a
year (i.e. March 2010). However, if the player renews after the
expiration date, the membership would then take on the new date. For
example, for the March 2008 membership: let's say the player did not
realize his/her membership expired March 2009. They just realized they
are expired so they renew today. Their new expiration date will then be
the end of April 2010. 
Anyone renewing early will not lose time on their current membership. Memberships are paid ($25 per year), for 1 year in full. It is a good idea for parents to go online to www.uslacrosse.org and verify that their child is a member even if they are sure they are current from last season. That way you can be familiar with your child’s membership number and expiration date, as well as the renewal process. US Lacrosse memberships are refundable within one month of registering/renewing. Anything outside that time frame is unfortunately unable to be refunded. Anyone requesting a refund should contact the Membership Department at 410-235-6882 x102. *Why does my child need to be registered with US Lacrosse?

Many teams and leagues require US Lacrosse membership of all players in order to receive not only the individual insurance for the players, but also
insurance for the organization/league for tournaments, clinics, practice
fields, etc.  MULA’s insurance carrier (Bollinger Insurance) requires 100% membership in US Lacrosse in order for the organization to receive insurance.  Should a player’s membership lapse, our insurance becomes invalid.

In addition to the insurance, US Lacrosse members also receive our
Lacrosse magazine and free admission to the
Lacrosse Museum and Hall of
Fame. A new program we have started is our Member Value Program.

This program provides discounts on games, equipment and other services.

US Lacrosse aims to teach better coaches, which in turn, makes better
players. Through US Lacrosse, coaches can be part of the only national
standardized lacrosse-coaching program designed to give them the tools
to enhance their coaching at every level. Depending on the number of
players a team registers, they can be eligible for $25 coupons in order
to complete the online coaching courses free of charge!

 

 

 

*How much will it cost to register my child for the 2009 lacrosse season?

 

SPRING 2009 REGISTRATION FEES FOR MENDON-UPTON YOUTH LACROSSE

 

New player:  (registration $75  fundraising $75  uniform $35= $185)

 

New player, out-of-town:  (registration $75  fundraising $75  uniform $70= $220)

 

Returning player:   (registration $75 fundraising $75= $150)

 

Breakdown for multiple players from same family:

 

1 new/ 1 returning: (registration $75 x 2, fundraising $50 x 2, uniform (1) $35= $285.) 

 

2 new: (registration $75 x 2, fundraising $50 x 2, uniforms $35 x 2= $320)      

 

2 returning:  (registration $75 x 2, fundraising $50 x 2= $250)

 

3 returning: (registration: $200 (family max) fundraising $50 x 3= $350)

 

2 new, out of town:  (registration $75 x 2, fundraising $50 x 2, uniforms $70 x 2= $390)                                                     

 

*For families with 2 or more players, the fundraising fee is $50. per
 player (no cap)
 *There is a $200. registration cap per family (so this wouldn't apply
 unless you had 3 or more players in the same family).

*What is the uniform/equipment policy?

UNIFORM/ EQUIPMENT POLICY

All uniforms and equipment provided to a player by MULA must be returned after the last game of the season, cleaned and in good condition.  A replacement fee, based on current costs, for uniforms and equipment that are damaged and/or not returned will be charged. Failure to adhere to these policies will disqualify a player from the current or any subsequent season.

 

Out-of-town players will be charged a $70.00 fee the first year of play, $35.00 of which will be refunded when the uniform is returned in good condition at the end of the season. For each subsequent season, a $35.00 fee will be charged and will be refunded in full upon return of the uniform in good condition.

 

U15 players in eighth grade will be charged a $35.00 uniform fee, which will be refunded in full upon return of the uniform in good condition. 

 

Players whose US Lacrosse memberships are not valid through June 2009 will not be issued a uniform.
